The Ashton Symmetry was originally released all the way back in 2014 and has truthfully been one of my favorite cigars over the last six years. As many of us know Ashton doesn't like to rush new blends out unless they are perfected and fit a need in their cigar portfolio. The Symmetry was no exception to this rule. Prior to its 2014 release Ashton had not released a new cigar since the ESG in 2006.The cigar was meticulously blended by the Fuentes and produced at the Tabacalera A. Fuente y. Cia. in the Dominican. The Symmetry marked the first time the Fuente family blended a cigar that utilized Nicaraguan tobacco. I also feel that the Symmetry fit perfectly in their portfolio of offerings as a bridge between some of their lighter offerings and the ESG/VSG lines. The cigar for me is a true medium bodied that is packed with full flavors.

Year after year, Davidoff continues to out due themselves with the release of fantastic and unique limited edition products. The year 2020 was no exception to that trend. We saw the release of exceptional cigars like the Special 53, Robusto Intenso 2020, the Small Batch #3 and the always anticipated Zodiac release which is coming later this month in the form of the Year of the OX. The year 2020 was quite a hectic, stressful, and chaotic year due to the global pandemic that began in the early spring. As a result cigar aficionados might have missed out on some of these fantastic cigars. In particular the Davidoff Vault Piquant Robusto comes to mind. It was released in extremely limited quantities in May during the height of the Pandemic as a result many missed out on the opportunity to purchase. Luckily we have some available for those who didn't have the opportunity to get your hands on them back in the spring.
Like all vault releases the Piquant arrives in a well packed bundle
The Ashton Estate Sun Grown (ESG) was originally conceived in 2005 in celebration of the brands 20th anniversary. The cigar hit humidor shelf's the following year in 2006; with the 20-Year Salute, a 6.75 x 49 Churchill, to commemorate Ashton’s 20th anniversary. In each subsequent year following, an additional shape was introduced, including the 21-Year Salute (Robusto), 22-Year Salute (Pyramid), 23-Year Salute (Toro), and 24-Year Salute (Perfecto). What makes this cigar so special is undoubtedly its wrapper leaf. It shares the same wrapper as another iconic cigar Fuentes Opus X. The Dominican wrapper grown from Cuban seeds on a select Fuente family estate in the Dominican Republic under the watchful eye of cigar-making legend Carlito Fuente.
The cigar begins with complex yet smooth flavors of cashew, honey and sweet graham cracker. These favors are balanced nicely by a subtle note of black pepper. As the cigar progresses a creaminess m
