The Opus X ReXilient Box marks 25 years since September 11, 2001. Arturo Fuente created this release as a tribute rather than a typical limited edition. Notably, every box contributes directly to a charity supporting fallen first responders and their families.

Opus X ReXilient Box — A Tribute to September 11

Carlito Fuente Jr. built this release around his own memory of that day. He was in Philadelphia with his father during a board meeting when the attacks happened. Consequently, this project carries personal weight beyond a typical Opus X release.

As a result, Fuente designed the box itself with input from the FDNY, the NYPD, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. A special paper insert inside the box reflects that collaboration.

What’s Inside the Opus X ReXilient Box

Each box holds 20 cigars split between two formats. Sixteen Churchill-style cigars, marked with white footbands, sit on the outside of two trays.

In the center, four box-pressed cigars wrapped in the American flag represent the Twin Towers. Consequently, the arrangement itself carries meaning before a single cigar is even lit.

Interestingly, the four flag-wrapped cigars were originally rolled years ago for a separate project that Fuente later shelved. Rather than let that tobacco go unused, Fuente incorporated it into this tribute instead.

Fuente has not disclosed the blend behind either format of the Opus X Rexilient. Both, however, come from Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia in the Dominican Republic.

Supporting Tunnels to Towers

Arturo Fuente donates $11.00 from every box to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation. That organization provides housing support to disabled veterans, Gold Star families, and the families of fallen first responders.

For collectors, the Opus X ReXilient Box is a rare Fuente release built around meaning rather than rarity for its own sake. Meanwhile, every purchase supports a cause connected directly to the tragedy it honors.

Fuente has not confirmed whether this release will return in future years. As with most commemorative Opus X projects, availability is expected to be limited.
