The formidable Dragon necessitates a corresponding presentation, making this particular cigar representing the zodiac sign the most significant creation among all the "Year of" releases thus far. The double corona style boasts a striking foot ring that conceals the uncut portion of the cigar. This unique feature allows enthusiasts to savor the initial inch of this masterpiece without the wrapper leaf, resulting in a captivating interplay of flavors and visually evoking the image of a Dragon breathing fire.
The blend is composed of a remarkable combination of 8 tobaccos, with a combined age of 60 years. Interestingly, in 2024, this total age will match that of a person born in 1964, which is also a Year of the Dragon.
The edition for this year is available in an elegant box containing ten cigars. The top surface of the box is adorned with a mesmerizing iridescent varnished pattern reminiscent of dragon scales. The prominent Year of the Dragon emblem in the center features a pearl, which holds deep significance in Chinese culture, symbolizing wisdom, prosperity, and good fortune.
Upon opening the box, a wooden tray reveals two sections for cigars, separated by a silky red ribbon that draws inspiration from the Dragon's tongue. Notably, this release is limited to just 5,160 boxes in the United States.
TASTING NOTES:
1/3 – The uncut foot of the cigar offers an inch of enjoyment without the wrapper leaf, during which earthy, wooden and herbal notes are present. Once the wrapper takes over, the taste changes to rich notes of roasted nuts, cream and subtle liquorice.
2/3 – The intensity rises in the second third, when notes of sweet honey, white pepper and citrus dominate. The double corona format and 8 different types of tobaccos of a combined age of 60 years create and elegant and sophisticated taste journey.
3/3 – In the cigars final third, fresh spice and oak wood complement the dominating notes of dark chocolate. The intensity remains the same as before, making the last part of this masterpiece especially smooth and well-balanced.
