Opus X Templo de Oro No. 3

The Templo de Oro No. 3 is one of the most talked-about Opus X releases in years. Arturo Fuente introduced it without warning in December 2025, and collectors are still trying to piece together what’s inside. Notably, this Robusto-sized cigar wears a lighter wrapper than any other Opus X before it.

Templo de Oro No. 3 — Fuente’s Golden Mystery Opus X

Templo de Oro means “Temple of Gold” in Spanish, and the name fits. In fact, each Templo de Oro No. 3 wears a light, golden-hued Colorado Claro wrapper. The shade marks a striking departure from the darker leaf Opus X is known for. Additionally, a gold foil sleeve wraps every cigar, and the box itself leans heavily on gold accents.

What Makes the Templo de Oro So Rare

Interestingly, Fuente has never confirmed exactly where this wrapper comes from. Every Opus X has historically used leaf grown at Chateau de la Fuente. However, the company has stayed quiet on whether Templo de Oro follows that same rule. The confirmed facts are simpler: Dominican binder, Dominican filler, and a Robusto vitola measuring 5 1/2 by 52.

Part of the ForbiddenX Line

Templo de Oro isn’t a standalone series — it’s part of Fuente’s ForbiddenX family. Each cigar carries the black ForbiddenX primary band. A red secondary band in gold lettering marks it as Templo de Oro specifically.

Why Carlito Fuente Kept the Blend a Secret

Indeed, Carlito Fuente has a reputation for surprises, and Templo de Oro fits the pattern perfectly. The cigar showed up at retailers in late December 2025 with almost no advance notice. Consequently, many tobacconists didn’t know it was coming until boxes arrived at their door.

When asked directly about the blend, however, Fuente’s own team offered little beyond calling it well-aged tobacco. That silence has only fed the mystery, and it’s part of why the release sold out at shops within days.

Should You Add the No. 3 to Your Humidor?

Above all, the Templo de Oro No. 3 gives Opus X collectors a chance to try something different from Fuente. Meanwhile, reviewers note it smokes milder than a typical Opus X, with notes of cedar, toasted wood, and light sweetness.

Currently, with only 20-count boxes produced per release and no confirmed total production number, availability is thin. As with any ForbiddenX release, once a shop’s allocation sells, it may not come back.
