EP Carrillo Pledge Purple

The EP Carrillo Pledge Purple introduces a rare extension of the acclaimed Pledge line from Ernesto Perez-Carrillo. This release joins the Casa Carrillo Premier Collection and builds on the legacy of the original Pledge. That cigar earned Cigar Aficionado’s 2020 Cigar of the Year with a 98 rating. However, Pledge Purple explores a deeper side of the blend through extended tobacco aging.

A Decade-Aged Wrapper

First, the EP Carrillo Pledge Purple uses the same Havana-seed Connecticut wrapper found on the original Pledge. This leaf comes from the well-known Dunn & Foster farms in the Connecticut River Valley. However, the wrapper now carries nearly a decade of age. Because of this aging, the tobacco develops richer character and smoother balance.

As a result, the cigar delivers deeper flavor while maintaining the signature refinement that made the original blend famous.

A New Blend Beneath the Wrapper

While the wrapper remains the same historic leaf, the internal blend changes. Casa Carrillo pairs the aged wrapper with tobaccos that increase strength and complexity.

The blend includes:

• Wrapper: Havana-seed Connecticut (USA)

• Binder: Mexican tobacco

• Filler: Nicaraguan tobaccos from Estelí, Condega, and Ometepe

Together, these tobaccos create a full-bodied profile. First, the cigar opens with rich earth and spice. Then subtle sweetness and cocoa notes develop. Finally, the finish delivers strength with balanced complexity.

A Limited Premier Collection Release

The EP Carrillo Pledge Purple comes in a single 6 x 54 Toro vitola. This format allows the blend to evolve slowly and evenly. Meanwhile, production remains extremely limited.

Casa Carrillo plans only 3,500 boxes of 10 cigars. Therefore, the release stands out as both a collector’s cigar and a bold continuation of the Pledge legacy.
