My Father & Tatuaje La Union Collaboration Will Be Arriving Soon

The initial phase of La Union, a collaboration between My Father and Tatuaje, is nearing completion for shipment to retailers.

There are four distinct blends, each crafted into a 7 1/4 x 50 double corona with a 109-style cap. While two of the cigars were meticulously blended by the García family of My Father, Pete Johnson of Tatuaje crafted the other two.

These cigars are packaged in boxes of 40. To symbolize the union, each box contains 20 cigars blended by the Garcías and 20 blended by Johnson. The first set of these boxes, the black ones, are almost prepared for distribution to retailers.

La Union - Tatuaje for My Father (Black) utilizes a wrapper of shade-grown Nicaraguan corojo 99, whereas La Union - My Father for Tatuaje (Black) employs an Ecuadorian habano wrapper.

Regarding the other two cigars, the Tatuaje in the upcoming red box showcases an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, while the cigar crafted by the Garcías features a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper.

All four cigars utilize Nicaraguan tobacco sourced from the García family for both the binder and fillers. This includes pelo de oro, a tobacco often reserved for My Father's most special releases. Pelo de oro, which translates to "golden hair," is renowned for its distinct golden hue and the challenges associated with its cultivation. While this tobacco has been prohibited in Cuba due to its susceptibility to mold, it is cultivated in select regions outside of the island, including the García's farms in Nicaragua.

Each cigar shares the same size, referred to as a vitola the companies have named a Prominente Especial. The cigars feature a 109-style cap, blending the round cap of a traditional parejo with the tapered point of a belicoso. An identifying feature distinguishing between blends is that the Tatuaje-blended versions have covered feet, whereas the My Father versions do not.
