March 31, 2022Categories: Davidoff CigarsSince its release in May of 2021 the Davidoff Dominicana has quickly became one of if not my "go to" Davidoffs. I would say its safe to say that it has been my most constantly smoked cigar so far this year. This cigar is one that checks all the boxes for me; especially the Robusto size. The cigar itself has a great look featuring the classic white label Davidoff band. It also has a gold foot band that definitely distinguishes it from other white label lines. The cigar I'm smoking for the review is the Robusto size. The cigar features Dominican wrapper and filler with an Ecuadorian binder. As you light the cigar it opens up with a rich cedar along with some subtle baking spices; especially on the retrohale. The cigar also offers an abundance of creaminess. As the cigar warms more earthiness becomes present as well a subtle dryness on the palate. Pepper is also present as well as a rich leather component. The cigar is definitely medium to full. The cigar finishes very nicely balancing all

The AVO brand over the past decade has released an annual limited edition called the AVO Improvisation. The intention of this release was always to honor the birthday of the brand’s late founder, Avo Uvezian. Avo was a composer who had a passion for life. For him a life that was filled with music and seizing opportunities whenever possible to create rich, noteworthy experiences for all to celebrate. This year's release marks the 10th and final release in the Improvisation line to commemorate this special and iconic milestone. This year was extremely unique because they offered the cigar in 22 count boxes featuring 11 maduro and 11 natural cigars. This was done to pay homage to Avo Uvezian and the black and white keys of a piano.
This years cigar comes in a 5 X 55 Robusto format and for our purposes is dropped in a rich and chocolatey Ecuadorian maduro wrapper. This beatufial leaf is dropped over a Mexican binder and both Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. As the cigar begins it o

Pete Johnson and Tatuaje are releasing a new spin on the la Riqueza blend. The La Riqueza was a cigar that is coming back after being semi retired by the brand. An interesting fact about La Riqueza is that it actually started out as a cuban brand all the way back in the 1920s; until Tatuaje decided to utilize the name. The 2022 blend will still feature a Connecticut Broad Leaf wrapper; with nicaraguan fillers. However Pete has blended this cigar to slightly more full bodied than the original. The size is 5 5/8 X 54 and will come in 10 count boxes. We don't have a ton of details about the cigar but looking forward to getting them in our hands for a review so stay tuned.

The cigar itself is a work of art with a beautiful double band depicting the God of Fire himself; prometheus in illustrative detail. The wrapper has a meticulous look with a golden color to it. The feel is what I describe as a soft paper bag-like feel. The cigar begins with a fair amount of earth with some spice present; especially on the retrohale. As the cigar warms up I begin to get notes of leather, cedar and cream. Overall the cigar is extremely balanced and medium in body. The cigar finishes with what I can only describe as a rich caramel flavor. Overall this is a super high quality cigar that burns flawlessly and provides maximum flavor; in a medium bodied format.

The Arturo Fuente Opus X Lost City; a phenomenal cigar, with a unique origin story. The cigars origin is intertwined with the bright lights of Hollywood. In early 2004 production of the movie The Lost City began, featuring the actor/ director Andy Garcia. The film focuses on a family attempting to navigate the pitfalls of life during the Castro revolution on the island of Cuba. The film was set to be shot in the Dominican Republic. During an early location scout, Garcia was introduced to Carlito Fuente. The two hit it off, and the Fuente family and the Chateau de la Fuente became an integral part of the production of the film. A special crop was grown for the film and that tobacco later became the tobacco for the now Iconic lost City Cigars.
The cigar itself is beautiful and features what I think is the best looking cigar band in the industry. The wrapper is supple and seamless. The cigar also has the slightest box press; giving it a unique feel. The first third of the cigar opens
