The Davidoff Year of The Dragon Arriving Next Month

Davidoff's Year of the Dragon Limited Edition marks the culmination of a twelve-year series dedicated to the Chinese zodiac. The brand pays tribute to this significant year with a range of exclusive products inspired by the Dragon, known for its captivating personality.

In order to match the power of the Dragon, this year's cigar, representing the zodiac, is the most substantial creation in the "Year of" series to date. The double corona format comes with a distinctive foot ring that covers the uncut portion of the cigar, allowing enthusiasts to savor the initial inch (about 2.5 cm) of the masterpiece without the wrapper leaf. This unique feature introduces an intriguing interplay of flavors and visually embodies the Dragon's fiery essence.

The blend itself comprises a combination of eight different tobaccos, all aged for a total of 60 years. Interestingly, in 2024, this number will correspond to the age of someone born in 1964, which also happens to be a Year of the Dragon. This year's limited edition is presented in an attractive box containing ten cigars. The top of the box showcases a captivating iridescent varnished dragon skin pattern, with the central Year of the Dragon icon adorned with a pearl, symbolizing wisdom, prosperity, and fortune in Chinese culture.

Upon opening the box, you'll discover a wooden tray that divides the cigars with a silky red ribbon, symbolizing the Dragon's tongue.

As for the tasting experience:

1/3 - The uncut foot of the cigar provides an inch of enjoyment, devoid of the wrapper leaf, offering earthy, woody, and herbal notes. As the wrapper leaf takes over, the flavor profile transitions to include rich notes of roasted nuts, cream, and subtle hints of licorice.

2/3 - The second third of the cigar intensifies, with sweet honey, white pepper, and citrus notes taking the forefront. The double corona format, combined with the use of eight different tobaccos aged for a total of 60 years, creates an elegant and sophisticated taste journey.

3/3 - In the final third of the cigar, fresh spice and oak wood complement the prevailing notes of dark chocolate. The intensity remains consistent, resulting in a smooth and well-balanced conclusion to this exceptional masterpiece.
