The AVO Improvisation series is arguably the most anticipated yearly release from the brand. The Improvisation line was created as a yearly limited edition release to celebrate the birthday of the brands namesake Avo Uvezian. The series takes previous Avo blends and adds a twist. This pays homage to the way a musician might riff on a jazz standard. 2020 marks the eighth installment in the improvisation series. Like in years past the improvisation series will be limited to only 2,500 boxes

Cutting A Cigar
Regardless of who you are, or what cigar your smoking enjoying a premium hand made cigar always begins with cutting and lighting the cigar. Every individual has his or her own routine when it comes to doing this. However generally it begins with making some type of cut to the cigar in an effort to remove part of the cap or flag leaf that closes the cigar, while leaving some of it glued around the end to keep the filler leaves together. In my experience it's always better to make a more shallow initial cut, then test the pre-light draw. If the initial cut is too deep the cigar can run the risk of unravelling. Traditionally three types of cuts are used; a straight cut, punch cut or v-cut. For myself personally, and in my experience the majority of smokers select a straight cut, also known as a guillotine cut. Having a quality and sharp cutter makes this cut much easier and reduces the risk of damaging

I'm guessing if you're reading this article you most likely enjoy smoking premium cigars, but do you know what the process of making one looks like? Many of us enjoy the luxury that comes along with smoking a premium hand made cigar; however very few know the effort that goes into making the cigars. Making premium cigars like Padron, Davidoff, and Ashton can be an extremely labor intensive process that can take several years, to go from seed to shelf. The purpose of this article will be to better acquaint ourselves with the process, and hopefully provide a new appreciation for the product we love.
Every cigar begins with a seed. The seed itself is extremely small, its equivalent to roughly the size of a candy sprinkle.Just a bottle cap full of seeds is capable of planting an entire row of crops. The seeds are first transformed into seedlings, this takes about 60 days. Once they become seedlings they can be planted in
We all smoke cigars for a variety of different reasons, but in my personal opinion it boils down to three main ones for the majority. The first is the relaxation that comes with smoking a premium cigar. Many of us live hectic lives, trying to balance a busy work schedule, running a household and maintaining a family life. Sitting down to enjoy a cigar; whether we are at home or at a local shop allows us an hour or two of escape. For this period of time the cigar forces us to sit down, decompress and shift focus away from everything except enjoying the cigar in our hand. The second reason we choose to smoke cigars if for the camaraderie that comes along with it . Although, smoking alone can be extremely enjoyable, the true magic of a cigar is the way they can bring people together.Cigars allow people of all walks of life to enjoy an hour or two of luxury and brings those individuals together. The shared love of cigar smoking unites individuals from all professions, income levels and
One of the newest edition to the Tatuaje line up of cigars is the Escasos, which means rare. This a cigar that has been in the works for the better part of a decade. This line by Pete Johnson is unique and special for a few reasons. Firstly, all of the tobacco used for Escasos would be of a Havana-seed origin and secondly, all of the cigars would be produced in Miami. The Escasos line allowed Johnson to release unique, experimental and limited production product out of the Miami facility. As it currently exists the Escasos line features the six original sizes of the Selección de Cazador line, more commonly referred to as the Brown Label. The cigars feature an Ecuadorian grown Habano wrapper leaf; over Nicaraguan binder and filler. These cigars will be very limited in quantity with small amounts of boxes, released occasionally. Only a small handfull of retailers have been presented the unique oppurtunity to offer this special cigar. We are more than thrilled to have been selected as o
The Ashton Estate Sun Grown (ESG) was originally conceived in 2005 to celebrate Ashtons 20th anniversary. This cigar is a unique collaboration between between Carlos Fuente Jr. and Ashton to celebrate the anniversary.Probably the thing that makes this cigar so special is the fact that it uses wrapper leaf from Chateau de la Fuente. This is the Fuente family farm where the Fuente Fuente OpusX wrapper tobacco is grown; It was produced at the Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia factory. Over the next 5 years ashton released an addition size to the line. Given the special nature and rarity of the tobacco used these cigars can be limited and more difficult to find.
The cigar typically begins with ample notes of earth, leather and pepper. As the cigar continues to develop notes of cedar and a touch of sweetness introduces itself. The Cigar is extremely balanced from the first to final puff. The cigar is extremely smooth and as a result can have a “sneaky” amount of s

The Padron 1964 Anniversary line of cigars was introduced in 1994, to commemorate the companies 30th anniversary. Many will argue that the 1964 was the blend that put Padron on the map; catapulting them to where they are today. Today Padron is one of the most recognizable, and awarded brands in the industry. The tobacco for the 1964 Anniversary is aged at least four years and is rolled, then boxed pressed to honor the age-old Cuban tradition of box pressing cigars. Each size within the line is blended as a Nicaraguan puro, and is offered with either a sungrown, or maduro wrapper leaf.
